Spencer Mellace, CFP, CLU, TEP, FEA
VP Corporate Development | Advisor

Spencer Mellace has over 20 years of experience working with enterprising families. His career began as a financial advisor, but he quickly realized that true success comes from offering advice that aligns with the family's goals, not the interests of advisors or institutions. Spencer’s primary focus has always been to understand the questions his clients face, helping them shape and achieve their ideal future.
A client-focused practitioner.
Throughout his career, Spencer has dedicated himself to becoming an expert in client-focused planning. After earning his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations, he pursued the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation to enhance his ability to work alongside tax and legal advisors. Spencer eventually became a partner at a leading planning and insurance firm, where he contributed to developing client-centric planning processes. In 2022, he decided to focus exclusively on estate and succession planning for families and family businesses. This shift led to him earning the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation, further expanding his expertise and allowing him to build a specialized enterprise advising practice.
Valuing a collaborative, team approach.
Spencer firmly believes that guiding families through a well-structured, needs-based process fosters confidence and leads to better decision-making. As Vice-President of Corporate Development at Blackwood, he is enthusiastic about growing the team and collaborating with strategic partners to serve enterprising families effectively.
