Dr. Moira Somers is one of Blackwood’s founding partners. A Neuropsychologist and Family Wealth Consultant, she specializes in family dynamics and the psychology of wealth. She works with enterprise-owning families to assist in personal and business transitions of all kinds.

In her role as Blackwood’s Chief Learning Officer, Moira is deeply committed to developing the talents and capabilities of the in-house team as well as the multi-generational families they serve. She is a faculty member at the Ultra High Net Worth Institute, where she chairs the Family-Advisory Relationships domain. She is also on faculty at the Financial Transitionist® Institute.

She is currently working on a new book focused on ethics in financial services. Around the world, financial planning organizations and regulatory bodies turn to her for training on the complexities of family wealth and addressing financial non-adherence. Dr. Somers also serves as Chair of the Family-Advisory Relationships Domain at the Ultra High Net Worth Institute.
When she doesn’t have her nose in a book, Moira is apt to be playing harp (badly but enthusiastically) and gardening. She lives with her family in Manitoba.
